A Manual Therapy Perspective

By Mark McMahon, DPT, OMT, Revolutions In Fitness Physical Therapist at the Wellness Studio in Woodside, CA.

Why does it hurt on the bottom of my foot?

However, there are many other possible reasons the heel can hurt, each with its own subtleties.

Client Comments:

Mark's exceptionable skill, insight and sensitivity make him a true healer. Because of pain from a long-ago spinal fusion, I have received Physical Therapy from many hands.  Mark's are the best! His manual therapy has given me a pain-free back, he taught me what I needed to know in order to take care of myself, and his exercises actually work so I do them.

I've found that the Wellness Center's Saturday morning yoga class, taught by Mark, enhances the benefits of Physical Therapy.   G.H., Palo Alto

The bike fit / efficiency evaluation from Dan was awesome. I learned a lot and it revealed my hips are slightly out of alignment. I had some tight muscles that were causing me to sit crooked on the saddle, which in turn caused my right knee to flair out a little. Dan showed me some stretches that should alleviate this problem. Joe Campi, Endurance Cyclist

Curtis’s knowledge and directed exercises helped me become more efficient and more comfortable on my bike.   I was able to correct a long-standing crooked sitting position and unbalanced pedal stroke. I recommend him to my elite cycling friends as well as my most challenging athletic, injured patients in my rheumatology practice.
Christine Thorburn, M.D., 2x Cycling Olympian
